Civil Engineering Internship Opportunity

Location: Robbinsville, NJ

Company Description: ACT Engineers is an award-winning civil, environmental, surveying, and landscape architecture firm serving public and private clients since 1991. Recent honors include the NJ Alliance for Action Distinguished Engineering Award (2024, 2026) and the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association’s Project of the Year (2025). At 30 employees, we’re structured so interns work directly with licensed engineers on live projects.

The Opportunity: This role offers direct exposure to technically challenging projects under the guidance of experienced engineers. We have deep expertise in land use planning and site development, alongside an established, award-winning coastal and shoreline resiliency practice. You’ll get real exposure to both.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support land use entitlement applications and agency submittals
  • Assist with grading, drainage, and stormwater management design
  • Assist with hydraulic calculations and site investigations
  • Help prepare construction plans, specifications, and technical reports
  • Contribute to coastal/shoreline resiliency deliverables, including beach profile data
  • Conduct field visits for data collection
  • Use AutoCAD/Civil 3D for design and drawing support
  • Participate in project and client meetings

Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software; Civil 3D a plus
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Occasional overtime as needed
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Able to pass drug/alcohol screening and obtain government clearance
