Ocean City, Cape May County, NJ Municipal Airport
Project Description
As Environmental Consultant to the City of Ocean City, State and Federal regulatory approvals were obtained for multiple improvements including, stormwater management upgrades, a new airplane hangar and artificial turf along the runway. Environmental impact assessments were conducted in coordination with the City, Airport Manager and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to facilitate airport improvements.
The Ocean City Municipal Airport is located immediately adjacent to expanses of tidal wetlands and significant migratory and shorebird habitat. Wetlands were field delineated and mapped for an assessment of impacts resulting from proposed airport improvements. Assessments were evaluated with respect to required FAA guidelines. Wetland impacts were mitigated by creating a new wetland mitigation area in the City. Projects were funded with FAA Grants and ACT employees provided consultation and coordination of funding compliance documents.
